How the Mr Cashman Pokie Plays
Without the Mr Cashman bet, each machine plays exactly like the title it was built on: African Dusk is identical to the original Black Rhino, and Jailbird to the original K.G. Bird. With all lines and the Mr Cashman button in play, his logo appears at random after any game. On the classic games he is not on the reels at all, so there is no symbol to line up. None of the sources describes a gamble option.
What qualifies a spin changes by edition: all lines plus the button on the classic MK6 games, a five-credit ante on the 2007 European edition, and max bet on the 2012 US reissue, which gave 20 credits plus a five-credit ante as the minimum to qualify. Victorian versions of African Dusk and Jailbird add a local rule: most versions let any button skip the win count-up before a feature, but Victorian machines make the player wait through count-ups of up to 500 credits.
Mr Cashman Paytable
There are no payout figures here, because Aristocrat publishes no paytable for any Mr Cashman edition and none of the base games’ paytables could be checked. Each base game keeps its own symbols and pays, and the features sit on top. These are the base games confirmed as Mr Cashman editions:
- African Dusk: the Black Rhino maths with an African animal theme
- Jailbird: the K.G. Bird maths
- Louie’s Gold: a game from the Loco Loot series
- Magic Eyes and Jewel of the Enchantress: in the 2012 US reissue with African Dusk and Jailbird
- Arctic Wins, Betting Zoo, Eggstreme Riches, Indian Gold and Mystic Eyes: listed as Mr Cashman titles, with no further detail found
Any figure quoted for “the Mr Cashman paytable” is really a figure for one base game, and two Mr Cashman machines can pay very differently for the same line.
The Five Mr Cashman Features
Values differ by edition: classic figures are from the 2001 MK6 games, 2012 figures from the US Viridian WS reissue.
Random Prize: Mr Cashman moves his hands toward the win meter and adds credits, 50 to 1,000 on the classic games and up to 12,000 on the USA version of Jailbird. The 2012 edition pays up to 50,000x the line bet, and another source quotes up to 25,000 credits times the bet per line.
Random Spin: he spins one or more reels himself, and a multiplier of 3x, 5x or 10x is applied to the wins.
Poker Machine: he pulls the arm of a little three-reel machine at the side of the screen. On the classic games the result comes from fifty predefined three-number combinations; the 2012 edition caps the prize at 999x the line bet.
Choose your Feature and Match the Prize
Choose your Feature offers a gift box or a money bag. On the classic Jailbird the gift box wins 5, 10 or 20 free games with wins multiplied by 2, 3 or 5, and the money bag wins up to 1,000 credits. The 2012 edition adds a 15-game option and pays up to 1,000x the line bet from the bag.
Match the Prize is a pick game: the player touches stars from a set of 10 until two match, and the matched prize can be free games, a multiplier or credits. The 2012 edition lists up to 1,000x the line bet, or 40, 20, 10 or 5 free games at 1x, 2x, 3x or 5x. On the classic games every free game that does not win pays a 2-credit consolation, multiplied according to the feature.
What the Numbers Mean for Your Bankroll
Aristocrat publishes no RTP for any classic Mr Cashman game. The ACT approved Cashman Tonight, a later product, at a return of 88.00% to 90.00%: it pays back 88 to 90 cents of every dollar over the long run and keeps 10 to 12. A 2012 trade report gave the US Viridian WS edition a theoretical hold of 7.61% to 17.79%. Neither is a return figure for the classic Mr Cashman machines, and volatility is not published either.
On a 1-cent 2012 machine the cheapest qualifying spin is 25 credits, or 25 cents, so $25 buys 100 spins. If a machine returned 90%, those would cost about $2.50 on average, but one session swings far more, and no published figure says how often Mr Cashman appears.
Cashman Tonight, Cashman Bingo and Cashman Link
Cashman Tonight is the earliest spin-off found. A 2007 news report describes African Dusk and Wild Cougar with five second-screen features leading to a two-level standalone progressive, and an optional 10-credit ante. An ACT approval of May 2007 replaced one from April 2005, and the US release followed in 2007. Later that year came an enhanced Mr Cashman for Europe, then the 2012 US wide-screen reissue as 20-line penny games.
Cashman Bingo (2021) copies cash values from the reels to a bingo card, adds random “Cashman Antics” boosts and has a wheel with five jackpots. Mr Cashman Link followed in 2022 for US floors, a hold-and-spin game built around the Cashman family with an option to pay extra to go straight to the bonus, a format closer to Lightning Link, which we also review, than to the 2001 originals. Cashman Kingdom, written up in early 2023, is one of its titles. The free Cashman Casino social app from Product Madness, an Aristocrat subsidiary, pays no real money, and whether its African Dusk includes the five features is not confirmed.
Theme and Presentation
Mr Cashman has a coin for a head, and the animation is the point. He appears after a spin, reaches toward the win meter, spins the reels himself or pulls the lever of his side machine. Everything else belongs to the base game: African Dusk is African wildlife, while Jewel of the Enchantress and Magic Eyes are fantasy titles. The 2012 reissue moved him to a wide-screen cabinet with edge lighting and an LCD button deck.
Where Australians Find Mr Cashman
The classic games were made by Sydney-based Aristocrat for its MK6 platform, and Victorian versions of African Dusk and Jailbird, with their own count-up rule, point to venues here; review sites describe Mr Cashman as best known in Australia and New Zealand. No ACT approval for the original Mr Cashman titles was found, but Cashman Tonight is confirmed in the ACT. No Australian release of the 2021 and later Cashman games was found. No real-money online Mr Cashman from Aristocrat was found, and its first online launch in West Virginia, in March 2026, did not include one, so anything under that name in an online lobby should be checked for its provider. Aristocrat publishes no official free demo.
Mr Cashman Pokie Verdict
Mr Cashman suits players who remember him from the club and want to know what the button did: five random features, two of which can turn into free games with multipliers, on ordinary 20-line base games. It does not suit anyone who wants a published RTP, a paytable or a real-money online version, because none was found. The one thing to check is which game is in front of you, because the name covers everything from a 2001 African Dusk to a hold-and-spin cabinet.
